Congratulations Askern FC Division One Champions 2015/16

Even though Askern FC Reserves were a new team to the league this season they were well known to us as the majority had been what was the Brodsworth team from the previous season.

Their Open Division campaign got off to a cracking start with a 8-0 win over Doncaster Town but then they went on a horrendous run going 10 games without picking up a single point before getting back to back wins over Balby Rec and Armthorpe Markham Main which meant they finished 13th out of 16 overall and went into Division One after the Christmas break.

Understandably expectations were not that great and expectations from most were that they would probably finish mid-table at best, however a change in ground so their players could get to games easier seemed to be the change they needed and they never looked back. Out of nowhere they started their Division One campaign with a seven game winning streak and were running away with it before coming unstuck against Hemsworth & Denaby which put both of those clubs in with a shout of taking the crown from them. This didn’t deter them though and they got back to winning ways taking maximum points from their last 4 matched to deservedly claim the Division One title.

Congratulations to all at Askern Fc Reserves on becoming Division One Champions 2015/16 in your first season in the league from everyone at the league management committee
