Congratulations FC Graceholme Premier Division Champions 2015/16

FC Graceholme were an unknown quantity when they joined the league at the start of the season but come the end of the season everybody knew how good they were when they were crowned Premier Division Champions.

Coming from Sunday football where they were considered one of the best teams at that level, they started impressively in their first game they beat fellow newcomers Balby Recreational in convincing style 15-0 before losing 4-0 at home to Kinsley Boys in their second match. Throughout the rest of the Open Division stage of the season their form continued with the same pattern where they would beat some teams heavily but would find games a lot closer and suffer occasional defeats against some of the more established sides. During the Open Division there results meant that finishing in 6th place that they qualified to enter the Premier Division but results suggested they would finish around mid-table, nobody had envisaged what they would do after the Christmas break as going on form it looked like the Premier Division would be a three horse race between defending champions Sutton Rovers, Rossington Main & Kinsley Boys.

After beating Dunscroft Utd 6-0, South Elmsall United Services 7-1 and joint title favourites Rossington Main 3-1 in their first three Premier Division they had got off to a flyer and even though they drew their next game 3-3 with Armthorpe Markham Main they then only dropped points in one more league match in a loss at Sutton Rovers.

On the 14th May they played Sutton at home in what was a game considered to be the title decider, Graceholme put in a superb performance brushing Sutton away with ease on their way to a 3-0 win and effectively wrapping the title up which they duly did with a 9-0 win at Brodsworth in their next game.

Congratulations to FC Graceholme from all the league management committee on becoming Premier Division Champions 2015/16 in their first season in the league.
