Mr David Ambler

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you of the sad passing on Monday 10th April of Mr. David Ambler,

David who was 87 and a Life Member of Sheffield & Hallamshire County Football Association to which he was elected in 1993.

David played in the Midland League and the Doncaster Senior League from 1950 to 1955 and as a junior was associated with Doncaster Rovers F.C.

He started refereeing in September 1955 and developed from local football to the Yorkshire League as a Referee and a Linesman on The Football League.

David was President of the Doncaster & District Football Association, being elected to the Association in 1961

He was also the Secretary of the Doncaster Senior League for 50 years and to date, also, President of the Doncaster Rovers Senior Football League and still playing an active role.

The service preceding the interment of David will take place at 12noon on MONDAY 24th APRIL 2017, at The Mary Magdalene Church, High Street, Doncaster DN6 9LH followed by refreshments at the Owston Park Golf Club, Owston Lane, Campsall, Doncaster DENS 8EF
