Welcome To A New Season

Welcome To A New Season

There is not long left to go now until the 2016/17 season kicks off on the 17th September with the highlight of opening day being the Champions Shield game between Premier Division cup winners Kinsley Boys & Division One cup winners Denaby United Academy on the main pitch at the Keepmoat Stadium after the Rovers home game against Newport County, so hopefully as well as supporters from both teams there will be quite a few Rovers fans staying on to watch the match.

The divisional cups also kick off on the same day with preliminary rounds in both competitions as well as matches in both divisions in the league.

It is very pleasing to see the league going in the right direction in terms of growth and development, not only we were one of the few leagues nationally that never lost a team during the season last season but we have also grown from 16 to 20 teams, this is the first time the league has increased in teams for a number of years, bucking the trend in the national decline of open age football, so obviously we are doing something right.
